I was born in Esfahan and moved to Rasht at the age of fifteen. Studying a Bachelor of Architecture in Rasht and graduating from the University of Guilan provided the basic architectural requirements. Heading to Tehran was the turning point when studying under the supervision of Homa Farjadi, Hooman Talebi, Alireza Taghaboni, and Farshad Mehdizadeh opened new doors to my professional and academic career.
In 2017, I moved to Milan, Italy, pursuing a master's in Architecture and Urban Design. During my time in Italy, I explored the spatial dynamics of moving images, particularly through an architectural analysis of Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner (1982) as the focus of his master's thesis. My research explored the medium-specific techniques employed in the film and their influence on architectural design, specifically through 3D simulations of different scenes. I also investigated film-making methods, such as montage, narrative, and camera movement, to uncover their potential as tools for architectural design. I was the recipient of the Invest Your Talent in Italy (IYT) scholarship awarded by Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of University and Research, and the Ministry of the Interior, in collaboration with 25 leading Italian universities.
Living in State College now, I am studying PhD and teaching Design Studio at Pennsylvania State University. My current research is about Iranian architectural journals published between the 1940s and 1970s, and I am examining how architects navigated the politically charged landscape leading up to the 1979 revolution. I am also editor of the architecture journal hyphen.
In addition to my academic work, I contributed to architectural design under the mentorship of Stefano Boeri, Pier Paolo Tamburelli, Ingrid Paoletti, Marco Hemmerling, and Louise Wright. I also collaborated with Arup Italia on a variety of national and international projects and was part of the architectural team that won the urban regeneration master plan competition for Pavia in 2020.a
